“If you want to go fast. go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”

Last week Pam and I attended a Path for Growth conference in Colorado Springs. One of the mornings included a walk through the beautiful Garden of the Gods.

Due to some health challenges, it has been quite some time since Pam and I have been able to walk together. Although she had been working with her physicians to get better, I was afraid we might need to sit this event out. She, however, had different plans.

Our group of 25+ split up into 2 groups. The larger group would take a little more aggressive jaunt through the park, with 7 of us taking a more leisurely 1-mile walk.

Led by Mike and Janna, we joined Katie, Sharon and Andy on the trails. The goal wasn’t to get to the finish line first but to enjoy the journey, views and conversations along the way. In doing so, we made some new friends, great memories and I got to finish the walk with my best friend. (Who, by the way, felt good after the walk).

I can’t wait for next week, when our Fulling Management & Accounting team will get together in person for our annual offsite event. The theme this year is “Exponential Impact”. We will be talking about some crazy BHAG’s (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) for the next 3 years, that alone, would be impossible. However, just like with our friends on Colorado trail, when we come together with a shared mission, vision and values, the improbable becomes possible.
